If you are an avid reader of MM&FF, then you're well aware that there's a new captain of the Pony-wars ship-the '11 Mustang GT. With its 412hp rating, an improved suspension, and all-new manual and automatic transmissions, the new breed of Pony is undoubtedly the best ever. And, you're also aware that as soon as we can get our hands on the first available mods, we're going to bring them to you. Well, here and now is where it begins.

As technology has advanced, so has the ability to make big horsepower with relatively small-displacement engines. With superchargers and turbochargers becoming more popular, people are achieving power levels with their street cars that were once only found in the racing community. This growth in horsepower, coupled with gasoline restrictions and lower octane, has forced many people to run some form of race gas to prevent engine failures. But what if you want to run on pump gas?

Let's face it-the rear fascia of the '10 Mustang didn't receive much praise when it was unveiled. Though the '10 boasted arguably the most aggressive nose of any Mustang ever, the rear, let's say, came up short. So when Mike Spagnola, president of Street Scene Equipment, got his hands on a '10 GT, he knew expectations would be high to improve on the factory's version, but without stepping on the toes of the Blue Oval.

WAREHAM, MA - September 1, 2010 - Factory Five Racing and Tasca Ford announce a joint manufacturing effort in New England. Under the agreement, Factory Five Racing will be the select chassis and body supplier of '33 Hot Rod component cars to Tasca Ford. The Tasca name has a rich history in Ford performance for over 45 years and Tasca's Mod Shop will be building the Factory Five cars as complete rollers.

In the modern world of EFI, our engines are controlled by a computer system that relies on input from several sensors. The ECU (electronic control unit) constantly evaluates these sensors to provide proper ignition timing and fueling to the engine. These sensors include the TPS (throttle position sensor), IAT (inlet air temperature), O2 for reading oxygen content in the exhaust, CAT (coolant temperature sensor), and a bevy of others, all for the purpose of keeping the engine running within its programmed parameters. With OBDII and today's available electronic tuners/monitors, virtually anyone can scan the parameters of the engine, even in real time.

Megalomaniac Mustangs

Not many of us can say that we still have our first Mustang, but La Jolla, California's Charles Weller is one of the few who can. Nearly 20 years after driving it off the dealership lot, Chuck's Mustang looks as good, if not better than the day it rolled off the assembly line, and it runs a little harder now too.
